Last night, my wife and I went to Presov to an informal drinks-and-chat with His Excellency the British Ambassador to Slovakia, Andrew Garth, arranged by the Honorary Consul, Simon Lambourne. The do was held at Double Tiffany’s restaurant (which I would heartily not recommend), and a handful of other ex-pats and their wives attended. The theme of the evening was Brexit and how it may affect us. D-Day approaches and so much is still up in the air.
It’s the second time now I’ve met the Ambassador and I really like the man. He’s much more down to earth and approachable than the usual fare – most likely because he’s a northerner too.
It was good to meet other English people and my wife also enjoyed having the chance to speak to other Slovak wives of English men – it gave them all the chance to bitch about us with a common theme.
Thanks for the invite, Simon.
